Conservation
bookbinding requires knowledge about the historical techniques of sewing text
blocks. The process also involves making headbands, working with leather,
wood and metal, manipulation of paper, cardboard and canvas, as well as gold
printing and blind tooling. The most important point in restoration, reconstruction and bookbinding is to keep as much of the original elements as possible. All non-functional elements should be stored in a box next to the book they belong to! Upon completion of the conservation and restoration activities all books are equipped with protective packaging of conservation quality such as protective boxes, folders, covers or liners… Besides the standard protective equipment, we can also produce special protective equipment (large formats, non-standard shapes, special double-bottomed boxes, etc). |
